Presented By Mary Lawlor
Mary Lawlor, CPM, LM, has been in homebirth practice in southern New England since 1981 and opened the Monadnock Birth Center in NH in 2008. She is a passionate advocate for midwives and for women’s access to the care of midwives, and is a national leader in shaping the public policy agenda for the NACPM in support of these goals. She participated in the successful initiative to license CPMs in Vermont and New Hampshire in 2000 and has served as an Advisor to the VT Office of Professional Regulation since 2002, helping to oversee the practice of midwifery in the state. In 2000 she became a founder of the NACPM and served as President from 2002 until 2012, before becoming the executive director in 2012. She serves as national midwifery policy advisor to NACPM, including advocating to the U.S. Congress and federal agencies for increased access for women across the country to Certified Professional Midwife services and high-quality, high-value maternity care.
